Fireworks explode in the sky over this port city of Hakodate, on Japan's northern main island of Hokkaido, on Thursday evening August 13, 2009. A total of 1,950 fireworks lit up the night sky of Hakodate, known for the spectacular night view from a mountain, to commemorate the opening of the port 150 years ago.
