This image released on May 26, 2008 shows the eye of a six-metre long 230 kg squid netted about 40 kilometres off the coast of Portland in the Australian state of Victoria. The trawler, Zeehaan, was fishing about 40 kms off the coast of Portland, when it netted the squid on May 25, 2008 in waters more than 500 metres deep. Paul McCoy, a Fisheries Research biologist with Victoria's Department of Primary Industries, said it took 10 men to lift the squid onto a stretcher and place it in a freezer. The squid will be transfered to the Museum of Victoria for analysis.
