Ethiopia launched a massive clampdown...

Ethiopia launched a massive clampdown in the oil-rich Muslim region against the Ogaden National Liberation Front, a secessionist rebel group formed in 1984 in response to what it claims is systematic marginalisation by Addis Ababa. The barren Ogaden region has long been extremely poor, but discovery of gas and oil brought new hopes and have fueled the conflict.
