City-Tunnel in Leipzig, eastern Germany
A picture taken 10 December 2007 shows the drill head of a tunnel boring machine breaking through a concrete wall during construction works for the so-called City-Tunnel in Leipzig, eastern Germany. The tunnel is built under the city center mainly to enlarge Leipzig's S-Bahn commuter railway system and will connect the main train station Hauptbahnhof with the Bayerischer Bahnhof station. Construction works started in July 2003 and are scheduled to be finished in the year 2010/2011.
