More than 30,000 birds have been killed

A bird covered by thick coatings of the fuel oil spill from a tanker sits helplessly in the vast clumps of oil mixed with sand and seaweed on the shore near Port Kavkaz, on the Russian Black Sea, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. More than 30,000 birds have been killed by the thousands of tons of oil that leaked after a heavy storm broke Sunday a tanker apart in the strait connecting the Black and Azov Seas, according to the governor of the disaster-hit region.
