Science-quake-Japan by Miwa Suzuki Photo taken 21 September 2007 and released by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology's Integrated Ocean drilling Program, shows a deep-sea drilling vessel Chikyu during an operation off the coast of Japan's Wakayama prefecture. An ambitious international project to dig deeper into the Earth's surface than ever before has made a good start as scientists said they are getting clues on how big quakes and tsunami occur.
